Risk Assesment - Music Video Shoot 1

For the first initial shoot I was trying to film ambient shots of empty streets and cars passing by at night, I was filming in residential streets in Atherstone which is known to be a rough area especially during the evening so I needed to asses the risks involved before I commenced filming.

Possible risks or safety concerns

  • Risk of being hit by a car as I would be filming at night
  • Risk of dropping or damaging the equipment
  • Risk of being attacked/mugged
  • Risk of falling from a great height as there would be a point where we would need to cross a bridge that overlooked a motorway
  • Risk of injury due to falling/dropping equipment/attack
  • Risk of getting lost
In order to prevent any of the above from occurring it was necessary to take precautions before filming such as:-

  • Always keeping the equipment on our person or in plain sight at all times
  • Stay in well lit areas or wear high visibility clothing
  • Have at least one other person present at all times
  • Keep clear of main streets and roads
  • Keep a safe distance away from the edge if filming on a bridge
  • Ensure that whilst filming the equipment is kept in clear sight at all times
  • Ensure that at least one person knows the area well and can navigate easily
